How this index will work
Completed sales only, at the price actually paid. Withdrawn listings, expired listings and sales that collapsed at completion are all excluded, because including them is how marketplaces end up publishing flattering numbers that nobody can transact against.
The multiple is the sale price divided by the average monthly net profit across the trailing twelve months, after hosting, tools and content costs. Net profit, not revenue, and not the seller's estimate of what it could earn.
For reference while this page is empty: content sites in the wider market generally trade between 24 and 48 times monthly net profit, clustering around 30 to 40. Those are international figures from American marketplaces, which is exactly the problem this index exists to fix.
